My name is Jeff Brion and I own Shield & Shepherd Defense Products. I am based out of Southeastern Minnesota. In my work experience in corrections and currently as a law enforcement officer, I have seen and heard from countless victims of assaults, domestic violence, robberies, stalking, and home invasions just to name a few. All have two things in common. One was an overpowering fear and traumatic stress that impacted many even to this day. The other was a surprisingly caring feeling for humanity that what happened to them would not happen to anyone else.

In my current career as a Sheriff’s Deputy in Minnesota, I subscribe to what the majority (if not all) of us in the field believe in. I call it the 3 P’s of Law Enforcement: A strong sense of Protection of those around us, Prevention so that the chances of something happening are eliminated, and Proactive in stopping the problem. These attributes are why I started this business. I want to assist people in implementing protection, prevention, and the pro-activity in their lives so that they will NOT become another victim, statistic, or headline. The products offered can assist anyone in the self defense to ward off an attack or, hopefully, stop one before it starts.

I have over 10 years in the corrections and mental health field before law enforcement and I have supervised domestic abusers, intensive supervised releases for violent crimes, and sex offenders. From my interactions I know that each has a specific target in mind. They want the easy victim and they know how to pick them. If there is even a hint of resistance, contrary to what is seen on TV, many will just move on. Resistance to them can mean injury, a potential escalation in the punitive penalty if caught, and most importantly…..ATTENTION! Attention means witnesses, and witnesses mean the police and a chance of conviction and incarceration. As a deputy sheriff now, I know what self defense products are capable of doing to an attacker through personal use and trainings. I know the risks, benefits, confidence, and peace of mind they can install in someone and also what they can AND CAN’T physically do to an attacker.
